Baseball Game Preview: Gray Stone Day Knights vs. Montgomery Central Timberwolves

The Gray Stone Day Knights will square off against the Montgomery Central Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Gray Stone Day made easy work of South Davidson and carried off a 14-3 victory. The game marked the Knights' most dominant win of the season so far.

Logan Moses and Zach Misenheimer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Moses tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Misenheimer pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. At bat, Moses scored two runs and stole a base, while Misenheimer went 4-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave Misenheimer a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Decuir, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Poplin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Gray Stone Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montgomery Central). They never let Albemarle get on the board and left with a 27-0 victory on Thursday. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Montgomery Central pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Gray Stone Day, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
