Baseball Game Preview: Nimitz Cougars vs. Dekaney Wildcats

For the second straight game, Nimitz will face off against Dekaney. The Cougars will welcome the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nimitz is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Nimitz challenged Dekaney on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 11-1 to the Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly ten runs.

For Dekaney's part, Michael Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Hayes a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Micah Green was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Dekaney: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-13 otherwise. Anthony Cruz was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Dekaney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are 12-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dekaney's win bumped their record up to 16-14. As for Nimitz, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.
