Recap: Penns Manor Comets vs. Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays
The Penns Manor Comets struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Penns Manor suffered a tough 64-38 defeat at the hands of Conemaugh Valley. While losing is never fun, Penns Manor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Conemaugh Valley is ranked 72nd).
Despite the loss, Penns Manor still got an impressive performance from Alex Polenik, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Smith, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Conemaugh Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryton Yackulich out in front who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Yackulich's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Dietz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Penns Manor now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Conemaugh Valley, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Penns Manor will head out on the road to face off against West Branch at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Conemaugh Valley, they will be playing at home against Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
