Softball Game Preview: Lakeview Huskies vs. Utica Chieftains

The Lakeview Huskies are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Utica Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lakeview managed to slip by St. Clair the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Huskies lost 15-1 to the Saints on Tuesday. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Utica fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Marysville on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-6 to the Vikings. The Chieftains have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Rachel Durecki made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Condon, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one double.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Lakeview, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Lakeview might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Utica when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
