Baseball Recap: Malvern Victorious

Malvern owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Jared Witherow, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Tuscarawas Central Catholic off the board. Witherow has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Malvern let Darnell Jackson and Cameron Good run wild. Jackson went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Good went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Jackson has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Cobb, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Malvern's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, they are on a 30-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coming up, Malvern is taking a road trip to square off against Garaway at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, they will be playing at home against Conotton Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
