Basketball Recap: Gordonsville Comes Up Short

Gordonsville suffered their biggest defeat since January 24th on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Pickett County Bobcats, falling 79-44. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 55-43.

Jacob Amonett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pickett County, shooting 78% from the field to rack up 26 points along with six assists and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Amonett a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (80%). Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Cobb, who went 8-for-9 en route to 18 points and five rebounds.

The loss snapped Gordonsville's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-10-1 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Pickett County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.

Gordonsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pickett County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-64 win against Clay County on the 6th.
