Softball Recap: Alvord Bulldogs vs. Chico Dragons

Alvord won the last time they faced Chico and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Dragons 11-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Makayla Gresham was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jayden Peters was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bella McDermott, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs.

Alvord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Alvord's record now sits at 6-10. As for Chico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-14.

Looking ahead, Alvord is taking a road trip to square off against Archer City at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Chico does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
