Basketball Game Preview: Huron Tigers vs. Mitchell Kernels

Huron hasn't had much luck against Mitchell recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Huron Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Mitchell Kernels at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Huron took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They managed a 69-64 win over Harrisburg. The victory was all the more spectacular given Huron's disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Harrisburg is ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Mitchell beat Yankton 41-33 on Friday. The 41-point effort marked the Kernels' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Huron's record now sits at 4-2. As for Mitchell, their record now sits at 6-1.

Huron came up short against Mitchell when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 67-56. Can Huron avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
