Baseball Recap: Lakeview Comes Up Short

Lakeview extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Central Minnesota Christian Bluejays, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Lakers have lost by exactly ten runs.

As for Central Minnesota Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-7. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Central Minnesota Christian's part, not much got past Wesley Fussy, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Lakeview off the board. Fussy has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Central Minnesota Christian let Isaiah Swart and Jake Ver Steeg run wild. Swart went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Ver Steeg went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Central Minnesota Christian is 2-1 when Ver Steeg posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Meyer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
