Football Recap: Brennan Piles Up the Points Against O'connor

A well-balanced attack led Brennan over O'Connor in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bears blew the Panthers out of the water with a 67-7 final score. That 60 point margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.

Brennan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayshawn Mitchell out in front who picked up 113 receiving yards and three TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Mitchell was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 52 yards. Cayden Glass was another key signal caller, throwing for 129 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 17 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Nicholas Oliver Jr, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Brennan's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.3 points over those games. As for O'Connor, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Brennan and O'Connor will both be playing Marshall the next time they take the field. The Bears will host the Rams at 2:00 p.m. on the 11th, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
