Baseball Recap: Sevastopol Takes a Loss

Sevastopol had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it 18. They fell just short of the Kewaunee Storm by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since May 13, 2024.

Logan Schuh was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Tyler Grooters also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Kewaunee, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Sevastopol since May 16, 2019.

On Kewaunee's side, Micah Vanness and Connor Kilgore did most of the damage at the plate: Vanness went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Kilgore went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sevastopol will venture away from home to square off against Wild Rose at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kewaunee, they will head out to take on Algoma at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
