Soccer Game Preview: Johns Creek vs. Sprayberry

The Johns Creek Gladiators will take on the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Johns Creek comes in on five and Sprayberry on nine.

Johns Creek is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Rome 2-1. That's two games straight that Johns Creek have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Sprayberry faced Clarke Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Gladiators with a sharp 4-1 win. Sprayberry might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by three goals or more this season.

Eric Cruz and Kebron Dawit scored all four of Sprayberry's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Sprayberry pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those nine matches. As for Johns Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.

Johns Creek skirted past Sprayberry 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Gladiators repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
