Football Recap: Copiah Academy Takes a Loss

After soaring to 35 points the game before, Copiah Academy was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by the Jackson Prep Patriots 35-3. The Colonels haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Wade Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jackson Prep, rushing for 147 yards and three scores on only 12 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Smith a new career-high. Aiden Rowe did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 90 receiving yards.

Copiah Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Jackson Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Copiah Academy will face off against Greenville Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Jackson Prep, they will take on Silliman Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
