Basketball Recap: North Stafford Comes Up Short

North Stafford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat. They lost 52-27 to the Riverbend Bears. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Bears are ranked 137th).

Riverbend found their leader in sophomore Mikenzi Via, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards set a new season-high mark for Via. Nyah Barnwell was another key player, putting up five points in addition to 12 rebounds and five steals.

North Stafford's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Riverbend, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.

North Stafford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverbend, they will be taking part in a tournament against Massaponax at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverbend is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.
