Softball Recap: Muncy Indians vs. Warrior Run Defenders

Muncy had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-15 to make it nine. They came up short against the Warrior Run Defenders, falling 16-2. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 16-1 to the Defenders when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Muncy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sadie Odell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.

As for Warrior Run, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

On Warrior Run's side, Lacey Betz and MacKenzie Heyler made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Betz tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Heyler tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Betz got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Heyler went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Betz also put up a hit, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Alivia Gresh was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiley Day, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with four runs.

Looking ahead, Muncy will be playing at home against Millville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Quakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.13 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Warrior Run, they are taking a road trip to take on Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Defenders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
