Softball Recap: Amherst County Wins Going Away Against Broadway

Amherst County's hitters rose to the challenge against a Gobblers pitching crew that boasted an average of only 1.64 runs allowed on Thursday. The Lancers put the hurt on the Broadway Gobblers with a sharp 10-3 victory. Considering the Lancers have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Amherst County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Broadway, they moved to 9-2 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Amherst County will take on Buckingham at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Broadway, they will challenge William Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
