Baseball Game Preview: Thayer Bobcats vs. Salem Tigers

Thayer hasn't had much luck against Salem recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Thayer knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Salem likes a good challenge.

Thayer came out on top against Houston on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-4 win. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Colton Mills, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Clark, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Salem fell just short of Waynesville by a score of 4-2. Salem has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Thayer's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1.
