Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Academy Comes Up Short

St. Mary's Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 56-45 to the La Salle Lancers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Belles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-36 last Tuesday.

It was another big night for Casey Higgins, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 16 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds for La Salle. The game was Higgins' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aislin Tamez Torres, who posted nine points and seven boards.

St. Mary's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for La Salle, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 19-5 record this season.

St. Mary's Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Monica at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Salle, they will challenge Bishop Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
