Charleston beats Freeburg for their third straight win

Recap: Charleston Trojans vs. Freeburg Midgets

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The Charleston Trojans ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Freeburg and snuck past 27-24. The victory was nothing new for Charleston as they're now sitting on three straight.

Charleston can attribute much of their success to Luke Bonnstetter, who rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 190 yards and a touchdown. Jacob Roe also helped out with an impressive 95 receiving yards.

When it comes to explaining why Freeburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cole Stuart. Despite the final result, he rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Stuart was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.

Charleston has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Freeburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Charleston will head out on the road to face off against Murphysboro at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Murphysboro will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Freeburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
