Softball Recap: Russellville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Russellville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Haleyville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Russellville Golden Tigers' way against the Haleyville Lions on Monday as the Russellville Golden Tigers made off with a 12-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Golden Tigers as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak.

Kaylee Suggs made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Suggs was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ticelee Gholston was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Odom, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Russellville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Haleyville, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russellville will host Florence at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Haleyville, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Hamilton at 4:30 p.m.
