Recap: Erie First Christian Academy vs. Iroquois Braves
Erie First Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down Iroquois 68-52. Erie First Christian Academy didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Erie First Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Collins out in front who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Collins has scored at least a third of Erie First Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Simon Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Iroquois lost, one person who can't be blamed is Javion Lucas. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Lucas scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Burroughs, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Iroquois were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Erie First Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Iroquois, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Erie First Christian Academy will take on the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Girard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 217 points over their last three matches. As for Iroquois, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
