Softball Recap: Madison-Grant's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

Madison-Grant dropped their record down to 17-7 on Saturday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Jay County Patriots by a score of 12-10. The Argylls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Carley Holliday made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mae Ricks, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

As for Jay County, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.

On Jay County's side, Jozey Shimp and Brenna Ruble did most of the damage at the plate: Shimp went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Ruble went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Shimp has posted over her last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Chloe Brown, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will venture away from home to challenge Yorktown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jay County, they will take on Bellmont at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
