Football Recap: Northwestern Skates Past Key West with Ease

Northwestern came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Key West Conchs 56-0. That looming 56-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulls yet this season.

Northwestern got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Irwin James out in front who rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Another pass catcher making a difference was Calvin Russell Jr., who picked up 63 receiving yards and one TD.

Northwestern's record is now 6-1. As for Key West, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern will welcome Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so the Bulls' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Key West, they will challenge Lehigh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Conchs will be up against the Lightning's rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.14 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
