Soccer Recap: Fresno Comes Up Short

Fresno lost against McLane back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fresno Warriors fell just short of the McLane Highlanders by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Highlanders are ranked 96th).

Leo Cervantes and Tranquilino Lopez scored both of Fresno's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Fresno and nudges their season record down to 4-8-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 16-2-3 Edison (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 74.2% over those games). As for McLane, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6-2.

Fresno wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next contest, a 2-2 draw against Sanger on the 4th. As for McLane, they have also already played their next game, a 2-2 draw against Edison on the 4th.
