Softball Recap: Dunellen Comes Up Short

Dunellen came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Middlesex Bluejays, falling 27-17. The Destroyers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Dunellen got a massive performance out of Rose Ciccolella, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Kyla Fucito was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Dunellen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Middlesex, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunellen will venture away from home to challenge New Brunswick at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Zebra have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.27 runs per game on average), something the Destroyers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Middlesex, they will take on Perth Amboy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bluejays surely won't give up without a fight.
