Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Montgomery Mustangs vs. Craig County Rockets

The Eastern Montgomery Mustangs will square off against the Craig County Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Craig County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastern Montgomery, who comes in off a win.

Eastern Montgomery will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Bland County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs blew past the Bears 9-2 on Thursday. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Caleb Jones and Coltin Conner were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jones struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Conner tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Jones a new career-high. At the plate, Jones went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Conner went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Austin Tate was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Mason Phoenix, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Craig County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Giles, falling 11-1.

Eastern Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 8-2-1. As for Craig County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
