ABILENE, Kan. - After swapping the lead nine times,
McPherson (Kan.) took the lead for the win when
Kyler Kinnamon ran for a touchdown in the third quarter, paving the way for victory over
Abilene (Kan.) 58-46.
After taking the lead on a passing touchdown, the Cowboys went into halftime with a 34-32 lead. The Bullpups scored the winning points with a Kinnamon touchdown run that came in the third quarter.
A 47-14 McPherson victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Abilene defeated Chapman 28-14 last week. With the win MHS extended its winning streak to three games. The loss broke Abilene's two-game winning streak.
Abilene (4-4) will play a non-conference game against Smoky Valley next week, while McPherson (5-3) will take on Chapman also in a non-conference game.
