Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Trenten Luers and Brayden Maple Lead Batesville to Victory

Batesville won the last time they faced Franklin County and things went their way on Friday too. The Batesville Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 51-36 win over the Franklin County Wildcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Leading Batesville to victory were Brayden Maple and Trenten Luers. Maple went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Luers went 5 for 12 en route to 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Maple a new career-high in blocks. Kamryn Holcomb also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin County lost, don't look at Carson Allen. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Johnson, who scored six points.

Batesville's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-7. As for Franklin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Batesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-33 win against Connersville on the 25th. Franklin County has also already played their next game, a 66-45 loss against Northeastern on the 25th.
