Baseball Recap: Albany Academy for Boys Comes Up Short

Albany Academy for Boys managed to slip by Saratoga Springs the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cadets lost 14-5 to the Blue Streaks on Monday. The Cadets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Streaks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Brody Staff put in work no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Staff was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ben Dalto made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Willie Kimbler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

With the defeat, Albany Academy for Boys broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Saratoga Springs, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Albany Academy for Boys will take on La Salle Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Salle Institute's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Albany Academy for Boys' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Saratoga Springs, they will face off against Bethlehem Central at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
