Softball Recap: Mountain View Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Mountain View waltzed into their match on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Capital Golden Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 back in April.

Katy Jackson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiki Bangham, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Aleynah Vega was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capital struck out 11 times.

Mountain View's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Capital, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.

Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Capital, they will face off against Rocky Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
