Recap: Hillsborough Terriers vs. Armwood Hawks
If the Hillsborough Terriers were riding high off their 59-36 takedown of the Gaither Cowboys last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hillsborough fell just short of Armwood by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Hillsborough has suffered yet this season.
Hillsborough lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Deana Epps, who scored 18 points along with five assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jojo Cruz-Smartt, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Hillsborough's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Armwood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillsborough will challenge Alonso at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alonso will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Hillsborough is ranked 215th). Armwood on the road again on Tuesday and play against East Bay at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th.
