Basketball Preview: North Mesquite Stallions vs. Wilson Wildcats
The North Mesquite Stallions will take on the Wilson Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
North Mesquite easily dispatched Spruce on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. North Mesquite fell just short of Seagoville by a score of 53-50 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Stallions have suffered since November 16, 2024.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Marquel Mouton, who posted six points in addition to seven assists and six boards. That's the most assists he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Bendaw, who had 13 points and five rebounds.
Mouton wasn't the only one working in the assists department: North Mesquite was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seagoville only racked up five assists.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilson). They blew past Adams 92-50 on Tuesday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-24.
Wilson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for North Mesquite, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.
North Mesquite ended up a good deal behind Wilson in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 51-36. Can North Mesquite avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
