Basketball Recap: St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Comes Up Short

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 54-34 to the Lockland Panthers. The Titans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 48-44.

Lockland was led to victory by Princes Webster and Jaylah Smith. Webster almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine steals, while Smith dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Webster has scored at least a third of Lockland's points. Amyiah Jefferson was another key player, putting up three points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Lockland, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Bernard-Elmwood Place will take on Shroder Paideia Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lockland, they will square off against Northwest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
