Basketball Game Preview: Southwest Dragons vs. McCollum Cowboys

Southwest and McCollum are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Southwest Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the McCollum Cowboys at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Southwest's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Southwest beat Southwest Legacy 57-51.

Meanwhile, McCollum came up short against Boerne-Champion on Friday and fell 39-32. The contest marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Southwest has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for McCollum, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Everything came up roses for Southwest against McCollum in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 93-43 victory. Will Southwest repeat their success, or does McCollum have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
