Basketball Preview: Calexico Mission RoadRunners vs. Monarch Royals
The Calexico Mission RoadRunners are taking a road trip to square off against the Monarch Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Calexico Mission can't be to happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home two weeks ago. They came up short against School for Entrepreneurship & Technology, falling 50-30. The RoadRunners just can't catch a break and have now endured ten defeats in a row dating back to last season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sergio Jacobo, who earned eight points plus six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Arevalo, who had nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Monarch unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Castle Park by a score of 2-0 last Tuesday.
