Basketball Game Preview: Devils Lake Firebirds vs. Thompson Tommies

The Devils Lake Firebirds are taking a road trip to face off against the Thompson Tommies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Devils Lake got the win against Watford City by a conclusive 72-46. Given the Firebirds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Wolves are ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Thompson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-35 win over the Knights.

Devils Lake's record is now 8-3. As for Thompson, their record now sits at 8-2.

Devils Lake suffered a grim 50-29 defeat to Thompson in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Devils Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
