Basketball Recap: Lakeview Leadership Academy Comes Up Short

Lakeview Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the University Prep Jaguars, falling 71-43. The Spartans lost against the Jaguars in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 55-50 score last time.

University Prep found their leader in freshman JOSHUA OKEKE, who posted 33 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points OKEKE has scored all season. BRANDON MARTINEZ was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Lakeview Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for University Prep, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeview Leadership Academy will welcome Barstow at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lucerne Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University Prep is facing Lucerne Valley at the right time seeing as Lucerne Valley is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
