South Lenoir extended their postseason success on Thursday against Whiteville. They skirted past the Wolfpack 5-3. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
The team relied heavily on Jake Howard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
South Lenoir pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Whiteville, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5.
South Lenoir wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Bunn on the 17th. Whiteville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
