Baseball Game Preview: Von Steuben Panthers vs. Whitney Young Dolphins

For the second straight game, Von Steuben will face off against Whitney Young. The Panthers will welcome the Dolphins at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Von Steuben's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Whitney Young has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

While Von Steuben's victory against Whitney Young wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers skirted past the Dolphins 4-2.

Isaiah Davalos made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Davalos wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was George Allen, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Whitney Young's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Von Steuben, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Von Steuben has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Whitney Young struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
