Halifax Academy has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cape Fear Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Halifax Academy Vikings will take on the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Halifax Academy hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Halifax Academy's last matchup with Faith Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. Halifax Academy lost 14-0 to Faith Christian.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cape Fear Christian Academy). They never let Fayetteville Christian get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.
Taylor Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Tyson Stephens was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Cape Fear Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Parker Mclamb was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Cape Fear Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Halifax Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Halifax Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cape Fear Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Halifax Academy beat Cape Fear Christian Academy 6-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Does Halifax Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cape Fear Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
