Canyon View might've scored the first points on Tuesday, but it was Desert Edge who claimed the real prize. The Jaguars took an 18-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scorpions. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scorpions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Canyon View still got an impressive performance from Arri Richardson, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one TD, and also threw for 45 yards and one touchdown. Richardson didn't just play on offense: she also made two total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception which she returned one-yard for a touchdown.

While Canyon View came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Desert Edge: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 47.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Richardson and Jada White, who each logged two passes deflected. Canyon View wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 65.4%.

Canyon View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nadia Fonseca, Richardson, and Ryane Ast picked up one apiece. Richardson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Canyon View now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Desert Edge, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Canyon View didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-7 loss against Hamilton on the 25th. As for Desert Edge, they will take on Sierra Linda at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Scorpions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
