Baseball Recap: Green Level Gets the Win

Green Level came out on top against West Columbus on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Gators took their game against the Vikings 10-7.

Isaiah Hytmiah and Luke Talley did most of the damage at the plate: Hytmiah got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Talley got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Hytmiah is becoming a predictor of Green Level's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Geiser, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Green Level's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for West Columbus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Green Level will take on West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Columbus, they will challenge Pender at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.91 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
