Basketball Recap: Stephens County Takes a Loss

After soaring to 67 points the game before, Stephens County was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They were dealt a 65-22 defeat at the hands of the Commerce Tigers. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.

Commerce's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Niya Daniels led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Daniels has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyanna Jackson, who posted 15 points and seven boards.

Stephens County's loss dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Commerce, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, Stephens County will take on West-Oak at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Commerce, they will face off against Mountain View at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
