Basketball Recap: Reagan's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Reagan was the 53-38 winner over Madison when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Reagan Rattlers fell to the Madison Mavericks 56-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rattlers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Mavericks are ranked 555th).

Reagan's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Luke Garrison, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points, and Chase Hill, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and five boards. Je'Andre Wurtz also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Jordan Clay went supernova for Madison, going 8 of 9 en route to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Those 19 points gave Clay a new career-high. Josiah Fite-Brown was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Reagan's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-8. As for Madison, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-17 record this season.

Reagan will square off against Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Johnson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Reagan likes a good challenge. As for Madison, they will face off against Clark at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
