Basketball Recap: Tarkington Triumphs

Tarkington hadn't done well against Hardin-Jefferson recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tarkington Longhorns walked away with a 67-56 victory over the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks. For the Longhorns, this counts as revenge for the 62-21 win the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2018.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samuel Jones, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Aiden Price was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Tarkington's victory bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Hardin-Jefferson, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Tarkington will welcome Shepherd at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shepherd is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season. As for Hardin-Jefferson, they will venture away from home to challenge Hamshire-Fannett at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hardin-Jefferson also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.2 points per game.
