Baseball Recap: Greenfield-Central Comes Up Short

Greenfield-Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 9-2 to the Center Grove Trojans.

Greenfield-Central got a good showing from Steven Walker, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayden Zellers and Dylan Luther did some serious damage despite the final result: Zellers went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI, while Luther got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

Greenfield-Central's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Center Grove, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

Looking ahead, Greenfield-Central will face off against Muncie Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Center Grove, they have already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on the 24th.
