Basketball Recap: Browne Comes Up Short

If Browne was feeling good fresh off their 85-40 takedown of Odyssey Institute on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins fell 54-50 to the Estrella Foothills Wolves on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Wolves are ranked 30th).

Despite the loss, Browne still got an impressive performance from Karmello Walker, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Walker's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Tony Bayigamba was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Estrella Foothills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Duncan, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Chojnowski, who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Browne has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Estrella Foothills, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Browne will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kofa at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Estrella Foothills, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-54 loss against Shadow Ridge on the 31st.
