Desert View hasn't had much luck against Tucson High Magnet School recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Badgers at 6:00 p.m. Desert View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Desert View managed to slip by Cienega the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Jaguars came up short against the Bobcats on Tuesday, falling 13-6.
Cristobal Lorta was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Yadier Acu?a, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Tucson High Magnet School entered their tilt with Perry on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Pumas by a score of 5-1.
Jordan Lesley was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alan Krimpe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
Tucson High Magnet School's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Desert View, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
Desert View's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Tucson High Magnet School, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Desert View continue to outrun the ball?
Desert View couldn't quite get it done against Tucson High Magnet School when the teams last played back in April of 2022 as they fell 7-4. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
