Lunenburg Central is a perfect 3-0 against Mecklenburg County since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Chargers will welcome the Phoenix at 5:00 p.m. Lunenburg Central's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Mecklenburg County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lunenburg Central will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Randolph-Henry, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Chargers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Statesmen on Thursday. Considering the Chargers have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Mecklenburg County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Magna Vista. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Phoenix have suffered since March 25th.

Mecklenburg County got a big performance out of Russell Webb, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Wesson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Lunenburg Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mecklenburg County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Lunenburg Central took their victory against Mecklenburg County in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
