Softball Recap: Heritage Mountaineers vs. Bearden Bulldogs
Heritage never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bearden on Wednesday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Bulldogs. The win continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Elishia Byrd made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Portlyn Bennett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Carly Smith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
